KID SISTER LINES

What's the next best thing to [and perhaps even better than] your favorite luxury brand? It's secondary line! This is the collection that is created from the same design point of view as the primary, luxury line, but is half the price and is usually styled towards a younger audience incorporating printed graphics, more wearable fabrics, and styled with sneakers.

Two of my favorite high end designers are Marc Jacobs and Chloe.  Each have amazing secondary collections that have cult followings like wow.

There are two things you should keep in mind when looking at these different runway looks:

1. Clothes are not sold in stores as the outfits that appear on each girl. Matching sets may be mixed up between models and multiple pieces are  layered on top of each-other to make each look more exciting.  Some pieces become more appealing with this way of styling, but very often pieces start too look costumey. In that case try to imagine each style on a hanger in a store. That's when you start to realize you need every piece in the collection ; )

2. At first glance some of the pieces may look like something you could find in H&M or even a thrift store, but if you look closer and think about how you would create some of them, you will notice that these design firms are using customized techniques, like intarsia [patterns with knit fabrics], and innovative pattern making skills to create subtly unique styles.
