Lisa Lyon is known for her androgynous beauty in the 1980's. Her physical and artistic success is the result of her limitless mindset, never thinking in terms of black or white, male or female. In 1979 she won 1st place in the IFBB Women's World Pro Body Building Championship, naturally. Without drugs of any type she was able to increase her muscle mass to that of a man while maintaining delicate feminine traits. Photographer, Robert Mapplethorpe gravitated to her chiseled, womanly physique and together they collborated on visual concepts that broke class and gender boundries.

In addition to being an athlete, muse, and creative contributor, Lyon was also a political activist.
Her point of view on the current state of polictics:
