STRAIGHT MACKIN ON A BEACH

Here's what's strange about the business of fashion, this Marie Claire beach shoot debuted in the April issue [which means it came out in March]. I don't know about you all but, I wasn't thinking beach in April. I was pondering cute Easter ensembles and lightweight jackets. So often you can barely experience a season's actual weather before the business has a whole new set of products to sell to you... One could also comment that the model wearing  chunky gold jewelry on the beach is unrealistic as well but, I would have to disagree. I definitely got in the water last week with all my links on : P.

I'm so happy to see homegirl Momma Z doing her thing! The collection [parties and selling strategies] totally embody her firecracker, down for anything spirt. Congrats girl, you are an inspiration!

BUILT BY WENDY

Almost 20 years deep with two New York City stores  and the Built by Wendy brand is still not a household name. That's cool tho because they pride themselves on their low key brand profile and cult following. In other words, they don't give a daym if you know who they are cause they gets money.  I was put on to Wendy in college when I asked a classmate where she got her adorable [she was a size 1 so they were small and cute] jeans from and then a recent mag feature reminded me of them. Built by Wendy actually does get quite a bit of press but, like so many great things in the whirlwind that is fashion, only gets a slice of the limelight.

Here's the Spring 2010 lookbook and product shots of my favorite pieces.
I love the art studio shoot.  I think almost every designer's ideal customer is a thin, rich, creative type.

All the pieces are on SALE NOW at builtbywendy.com

P.S. They also do guys stuff- City street chic Americana pieces- I'd let my boyfriend wear 'em.

NICOLE JARECZ

New fashion illustrator on the block that combines still life style pencil sketching with digital pops.
Recently graduated from College of Creative Studies, Detroit / now based in Paris [ooh la la].
Her pieces drip of texture and her hippy croquis are too cute.

If this is her work straight out of college I'm sure she'll go far.

THEY ARE SERIOUS ABOUT THEIR CRAFTSMANSHIP

Denham jeans launched last year prepared to fascinate and frustrate a world ruled by the expansion of fast fashion [I love it] with their uncompromising, experimental Japanese denim. As premium denim distribution protocol demands,  Denham started with men's but, have recently expanded into women's. Key female fits include the Clean and Boyfriend.

so fresh, so CLEAN
The woman's clean fit is based off  the male Grade fit,  a classic 5 pocket jean with a regular rise and regular cut, based on 1940's work wear with traditional [by that I mean old school, not usual] detailing.
The BOYFRIEND fit
in two washes
Japan Antique light

Japan Embroidery Repair

This fit features a smaller front pattern [so side and inner leg seaming is more visible] and Denham signature jean detailing such as box tailored button holes, copper riveted trumpet button, and petit 7-point hip pockets.

THE MORE I STARE THE MORE I LOVE THEM
There are just so many points of interest in a pair of quality denim.
Go to the Denhamthejeanmaker.com to witness how each pair is crafted.
Also check the site for a list of international retailers [no shops in the U.S.]

P.S. The founding designers name is Jason Denham. Destiney: fulfilled.
