GO INTO THE LIGHT
There are varied thoughts on what happens to a person when they die. I have adopted the popular belief in heaven [if your good], but utopia for each of us is different, so I think heaven has different neighborhoods catering to different ideals [sort of like Manhattan & Brooklyn]. My heavenly hood would, of course, be very chic, yet humble, heels would never hurt and sneakers would be plentiful. No weight would be gained, work would be done by simply thinking about it, and receipts would be currency. Angels would look like this...

ABBEY LINCOLN
Jazz Singer
1930-2010
She started out as a Hollywood starlet, but got turned out by the civil rights movement and became an icon for change. Her career started in 50's, playing sexy vixen roles and even donned a dress previously worn by Marilyn Monroe. By the 60's she began collaborating with jazz musicians and was closely connected to the fight against racism. Her style evolved from pinched waist, jeweled evening gowns, to trendy shift dresses and kente cloth, finally to her signature top hat with all black.
She sites Billie Holiday as a large source of inspiration

STUMPED FOR A HALLOWEEN COSTUME?
I recently started thinking about my plans for Halloween and whether or not I want to dress up. If I do dress up this year, I'm not sure what/ who I would want to be... Last year I wanted to be Wendy Williams, but I'm over that, still love her, but I'm over the outfit. This year I was thinking about doing something that commented on the social climate in the US ... Perhaps an oil spill, a defunct subway line, or a bailed out bank. Realizing I may be over-thinking the whole situation, I've got my side eye on these Lady Gaga costumes and accessories from Rubies.
