Living For This Look

Tilda Swinton in a sharp feminine blazer and softly draped skirt by Haider Ackerman for the 69th Annual Golden Globes. The icey cold blue tone with the hard and soft components created red carpet look that was full of cool confidence and hinted to a ladylike sensibility. The color is a spot on choice for this time of year.

I also love Jessica Beil in this Elie Saab Haute Couture Dress. Consistent with the above look, I'm clearly into sleeves on gowns. It just makes sense when its cold outside. Besides the practicality I'm also into not showing all your lady parts in one look. The sheer drop-outs at the bust line and bottom sleeves allude to Beil's cleavage and arms with out blatantly showing them like everyone else. The slice of leg is all the skin you need.

OH AMBER

I could go on forever about why her style is the epitome of High Street, but I did that recently. For now I'll just leave you with this Spring 2011 London Fashion Week Shot.

WHITE T + CARGOS + TIMS X CUTENESS = PERFECTION

I have a natural born affinity for boyish outfits on pretty, cool, girls. Just the other day I saw a photo from  like '96 with a girl in a baggy, probably BOSS, outfit with her hair in a blond updo, nails done long and a beautiful face. She was posted up, real tough like, next to a car and and I just went crazy over the image. That look why I LOVE women's streetwear. The idea of being just as cool as the boys, and as pretty as a girl in 6" heels is alway in the back of my mind when I design. Amber Rose is thee modern day personification of this styling. Here, she in an ultra masculine ensemble right down to the Tims, but her bangles, huge studs, vintage shades... Oh and her killer curves make it clear that she is a lady. The strappy back pack, appearing again, accentuates her bust and just enough tattoo shows to let you know she's badass.

P.S. Wassup with the dark twin in the back ground?

NICE HAIR... NICE TATS

I love that chest tats on women are becoming more and more common. The lady up top develops a retro look with a uneven curled script, font bump, flipped up hair and red lipstick, while homegirl down below creates a young playful vibe with cupcake illustrations, red hair and a loose graphic tee.

THE BEST THING SINCE THE MOVIE

Yes, The Sex and the City 2 BOOK. Sounds a little fanatical, right? But, check this out...

The book breaks down almost every look Carrie wears and every key look the others ladies don.
Tell me that doesn't wipe away any preconceived corny notion of the book you had in your head!
Here are some of my favorite ensembles' details....

I can't get enough of this racer back necklace by Low Luv

The girls change so quickly in the desert, you barely got to see how tough these jeans are,  so here's a closer look

I was so off on my callouts of Carrie's camel outfit. For the record...

Open skirt over jeans, genius

the infamous Vintage Valentino Skirt Scene.
the L'Wren Scott blouse is nothing I would want to stain either btw

When asked how she was going to top herself next, Patricia Field, Movie Stylist, replied "... that is not my reality at all. If I had some kind of consciousness of other people's expectations, it would freeze me up and make me miserable and not allow me to be creative and have fun with it. I would be worrying about what everybody else thinks, and that is not part of the process for me."

LOVE HIGHLIGHTS- THE 2010 ACADEMY AWARDS STYLE

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, MY REVIEW OF OSCAR RED CARPET STYLE
Bling! Bling!
Our little Miley is growing up and this time in a good way. Her  lingerie inspired Jenny Peckham dress alludes to sexuality without giving it all up. I even like the way Miley is slouching.  I dare say she isn't used to looking this sophisticated... and it's nude.

This Ellie Saab  took my breath away when I first saw it. So spring, yet evening appropriate. You really get a feeling of the season from this look. Usually multicolor floral patterns have no place on the red carpet, but Elli Saab makes it work with sweepingly over sized flowers, flowing fabric, and muted color. I would lay down and die to get a hold of that fabric.

Cary Mulligan's Prada dress won #1 Worst Dressed at huffington post, #1 Best Dressed at Vogue... I'll have to agree with Vougue on this one. Mulligan's platinum blond hair with the black on black details makes a beautiful picture. I also get my rocks off on novel details, which this dress was chock full of. In addition to tasteful Swarovski crystal flowers, the Prada dress was embellished with  miniature forks, knives, scissors, and keys.
Amazing.

Sarah Jessica Parker is one of the few people that can pull off this Chanel Couture maxi tube gown. Not only should you be thin to wear something so abstractly loose, but you also need to have classic/ old world vibe to pull such a vintage shape.
SJP is totally giving us Storm eyes tho... A little freaky...

Charlize Theron's Christian Dior dress is like a sophisticated homage to Jean Paul Gaultier's cone bra
I can dig it.
Totally daring and richly gorgeous at the same time.

Sherlock Holmes the movie was awesome, but not as awesome as Robert Downey Jr wearing Lanvin Kicks on the Oscar Red Carpet Bitches!
Suit also by Lanvin and Oliver Peoples custom shades.

WHO KNEW

Andrew, the assistant from Kell on Earth, Shows off his extensive closet space and discusses his style.

Who knew he was such a high end collector?! Here I am writing off Gothic dressers as people who are O.K. with bad dye jobs and ill fitting thrift store pick ups and this dude owns Rick Owens boots and Givenchy loafers!? All in black of course. I don't think we even need to touch on the leggings collection do we? The fierceness pretty much jumped out of the spandex, bounced off Andrew twice [like a double kiss] and then through the screen. Let this be a lesson to all of us: Never blanket judge a style genre by the riffraff you see on the street every day. Instead, wait until a member of the clan in question appears on t.v. giving tours of their lavish closets and then draw a conclusion.

*One thing that was super funny was hearing Andrew use bubbly words to describe his apparel, yet maintain a monotone voice.  ha. ha.

*** And you may notice this is the second time today I am mentioning People's Revolution... Sorry, I love Kell on Earth. I'm totally a fan of Kelly Cutrone and her tribe. I'm even reading her book... And it's so good I can confirm to you I will write a post about it before I even finish it. It's that deep. *straight face*

NYFW STREET STYLE

The past fashion week hosted in NY [Feb 11-18/ the last fashion week to be held at the Bryant Park] was sprinkled with snow forcing fashion followers to be, both, practical and chic.
Too Cool: It's now totally ok to wear sweats outside of the two block radius around your crib
Rabbit fur with pop-over mittens: Unexpectedly cute
*not sure about the 2nd coat and other layering pieces*
Homegirl does look a little razz-ma-tazz, but a sense of ferocity exudes from her
being sassy in sweats is a true calling

Heeled duck boots: Instinctively, I assume these are Dsquared, but I'm not totally sure

Anna Winteezzy in the fur trimmed trench: Not necessarily street, but I love her pimp hand
