A-LIST NAIL ARTIST

NAOMI YASUDA

You may have seen her work in a little movie called Sex and the City or on a humble song bird named Alicia Keys, but her most interesting work in done on the fingers of the unknown, most likely in a low key Brooklyn Salon...

See more of her work on her twitter, myspace, or professional site.

ON POINT

NEW NAIL TREND: POINTED NAILS

During the 20/20 special Last November, I noticed Rihanna flexing her personal style with sharpened claws. While, style wise, she can do no wrong, I definitely thought the nail shape was a little out there, but chalked it up to her expressing her rocker side and appreciated her doing her own thing. I couldn't imagine anyone else pulling the shape off. Recently, I saw Fergie-Ferg's take on the sharpened look and next thing you know I'm filing my nails to a point.

HD NAILS

Although it's always in style in Asia, the 3-D nail art trend has recently resurfaced in Music and Hollywood. I love it and if I had the time, would be all up in the nail salon getting one outlandish design after the next.

This Is What I Was Going For

Last winter I asked my nail dude for a flipped french manicure and he had no idea what the hell I was talking about. After a detailed explanation and a small sketch he got the idea, but the execution was rough. I wish I had this reference back then...

Altered Luxury Opening Reception

By now the Altered Luxury Exhibit featuring the Carbonado Campaign and Arm Me photographic collections should be in all their glory on display at Sole Food NYC , but last Friday [10/2] I caught a sneak peak of  the pieces at the Altered Lux Opening Reception in SoHo. The installastions were a clever blend of luxury branding and street sensibilities. The  attendees were a trip.
