NEW ILLUSTRATIONS TO AN OLD PITCH

A few months ago I had the illustrious opportunity to show off my design skills to MOB HBIC, Leah McSweeney. My design concepts were tough, but my illustrations were not, and Leah decided to take the collection back to tees. After looking at what I presented her, I couldn't blame her, so I went back to the lab and did some retouching. Tell me what you think!

PLEASE NOTE: THESE ARE NOT OFFICIAL MOB DESIGNS

Please also note stealing designs is totally uncool and a real good way to earn bad karma. With that said, I can be contacted at meals.style@gmail.com for design work.

NICOLE JARECZ

New fashion illustrator on the block that combines still life style pencil sketching with digital pops.
Recently graduated from College of Creative Studies, Detroit / now based in Paris [ooh la la].
Her pieces drip of texture and her hippy croquis are too cute.

If this is her work straight out of college I'm sure she'll go far.

SLEEP ON ART- H&M HOME X JULIE VERHOEVEN

In the race for the ultimate designer/ bargain store partnership, H&M pulls forward [from Target] with it's newest home collaboration with Dutch illustrator Julie Verhoeven [who's previous projects include work with Mulberry and LV]. The domesticated duo has designed a collection of bedding and one fabric bag all featuring Verhoeven's fashion forward, watercolor graphics. But here's the rub: the collection is only available online in select European countries, see for yourself.

SOMETIMES TYPOS END UP BEING LITTLE TREATS

While browsing nitrolicious, I noticed an ad for retrogurl.com. Retrogurl is one of the writers for nitrolicious and I was intrigued by the idea of her having another site. I quickly typed the URL in the addy bar but, in my haste, typed girl with and "i" instead of a "u". What I got was a vintage shopping site  dedicated to  the images and sketches of retrogirl [with an i], a model and artist from the 1960's. What  a little vintage treat! There were tons of product with the model's black and white imagery on it but, of course, what stood out to me where the greeting cards with her fashion illustrations.  I love the shading.

Once I realized my typo I quickly finished browsing the retrogirl site and headed over to my intended destination. It appears retrogurl.com is the writer's  more personal blog where she cronicals her day to day haps. Pretty cool too.

Garance Dore

Just your average French girl that likes to have fun with getting dressed and passes time jet setting from one fashion capital to another checking out the seasonal shows and who's attending them.

Lucky for us, Garance Dore documents her fabulous life and talent as Fashion editorial/street photographer and illustrator on  her blog, www.garancedore.fr . The best descrition of her work would be whimsically chic. Ms. Dore's photos show an impeccable eye for style and composition that seem effortless. Her illustrations are loose with lots of open space, meaningful line qualities, wavy/ windblown hair, and sassy attitudes. I love em.
