RIHANNA: ELLE MAGAZINE'S JULY COVER GIRL

The two tonality  draws me into this cover. Her hair, the dress, the shades of purple.

I'm really feeling behind the scenes video footage of photo shoots. They give you a chance to see the rest of a look that may have been cropped out of a photo and get a feel for the subjects vibe.

NYCKED

Jules Kim [of Bijules] and Lorenzo Martone [ Marc Jacob's hubby] collaborated to form the new New York swimwear line: NYCKED. The match is so random, it's right. Kim is known for her boundary-pushing jewelry and Martone is known to be surrounded by high style. Together, this could mean magic. Their Summer look book was shot by Brooke Nipar. The suits are cute, the girls are very skinny. No info on where the line is sold just yet...

OLD SCHOOL JEWELS

The Metropolitan Museum’s collection of Ancient African and Egyptian jewelry and trinkets.
Unbelievable detail; color, techniques, and styles we still use today.

OUT MY MIND,

JUST IN TIME...
Some pics and a video clip from Erykah Badu's recent NY Performance.
She first came out in [what's becoming] her signature top hat and black Burberry trench [from the Window Seat Video] with over sized gold feather earrings, full finger rings, and black patent leather ankle boots.

P.S. The background singers were dope

When Erykah Badu took her trench off to reveal she was, in fact, wearing sweat pants, I swear I  heard the faintest gasp from the crowd but, Badu flashed an "I'm doing me" sort of look back and continued on with her amazing show.  Even in a yellow t shirt and rolled up sweats, she had crazy stage presence [without any real dance moves] and her voice was on point.

SEEN HER AROUND?

M.I.A. has been busy with June/ July photoshoots and interviews in The New York TimesComplex and most recently Nylon.

The Times-

The shoot took place all over NYC focusing more on location than the fashion. Her face looks pretty and there is some cool imagery in there.

Complex-

The styling in this shoot with Complex seemed to play off M.I.A.'s Indian heritage... a little cliche.

Nylon-
Tims and leggings

I'm feeling the gear, but my girl looks sleepy as hell in these pics.

In addition to so-so fashion reviews on her gear,  M.I.A. received madd flack on comments she made about Google and war in the interviews. I, personally, like her for her music and clothing style and never  put to much stock into what anybody says publicly. On a more relevant tip, she has a third album on it's way out.
